Hiking Dolomites

Is it possible to plan a Dolomites Hut-to-Hut trip without an expensive tour middle man? Also is it too difficult for 12 year old boys? would love some tips.... thinking of next summer. HIking somewhere in Italy or France (Switzerland bad exchange rate??)

Yes, it's possible all over the Alps. Most trails are well signmarked and easy to find alone.
Huts can be booked indidvidually (websites!)
There are tons or free hiking guides in the web.

Just define the area you are interested in, according to season, climate (there are rather dry and rather rainy areas) and things you want to see (glaciers, big waterfalls, palm tree fringed lakes, castles, fun parks.....). Everything is possible.
