Hiking Cinque Terre
A few questions:
1. Which route is the most scenic to hike.....Levanto to Riomaggiore or Riomaggiore to Levanto? 2. How long (in time and kilometres) is the back hike (not the coastal hike) from Monterrosso to Riomaggiore? 3. Where can I get a detailed hiking trail map (of all the trails) of the Cinque Terre? I appreciate your help! |
Start with the official website: http://www.parconazionale5terre.it/
it had detailed trial info. |
http://www.monterossovernazza.com/
I did this hike and only this hike because the other trails were closed due to rain and damaged. Monterrosso to Vernazza took us a couple of hours and it was beautiful. Take water, have shoes that don't slip on wet rocks and expect some steep climbing. I loved walking through the vineyards, lemon groves and looking down at the views. When you go there might be different trails open it all depends on the weather and what the trails look like. |
Be aware that due to overcrowding and damage to the area the government will limit access to the CT this year (they want to cut back from 2.5 million people to 1.5 million). Access will be by ticket only - and they will be sold in advance.
I haven't seen any details but I would definitely google is you plan on going. |
There are no tickets or reservations needed for the Cinque Terre. Those stories were not factual. The President of the Ligurian region, mayors of the Cinque Terre towns, and hoteliers have all issued statements repudiating any numeric controls on visitors.
