hiking boots

I will be on 7 day hiking trip to Provence in the early part of June. I want to pack as light as possible. Do you think I should bring 2 pairs of boots? Also, what is the wheather like?

When I go on hiking trips for a week I take one pair of hiking boots and one pair of sneakers so I can wear them after hikes. There is no need for two pairs of hiking boots.

I've been on several walking (light hiking) tours in France, Italy and Greece. I always take one pair of hiking boots. Maybe if I were going someplace wet like Ireland I'd consider taking two, but for most places that are relatively dry, one is enough. A second pair would use up a lot of precious packing space. You should apply some kind of waterproofing treatment to the boots before you leave. Take plenty of socks to wear with the boots, because if you wash them they may not dry for days.

In Provence in June, I wouldn't take boots at all (unless you're doing mountains?). Take serious walking shoes-I don't mean Mephistos or stuff, but technical shoes, preferably waterproof. And sandals or something for teh evening. And another tip is wear them for the flights so you don't have to pack them
