Iregeo, I have just booked an apartment for my first solo trip to Paris--would love it if you took up your report again.

I'd love to hear more, too! I'm going for my first solo trip to Paris this summer and am considering this apartment now.

Becca, I stayed in the same apartment in November. You might be interested in my trip report:

schnauzer, Leely, becca, I'm re-invigorated by your interest! I'll pick it up again shortly. In the meantime, if you have any specific questions, about the apartment or anything else, don't hesitate to ask.

I also posted a full trip report from my first solo trip to Paris. I don't know how to post links, but if you want to look it up, it was called "One blissful week alone in Paris."

Iregeo, so would this apartment be as wonderful for a couple as for a single? It certainly looks lovely, and your report, well it couldn't be better. It's a wonder what a few pictures hung on the walls can do for a place!

And Nikki, too.

The kind of neighborhood you describe, young, working middle class, it just sounds so "right" for us. If you know San Francisco at all, I would describe us as "more Noe Valley, and less Pacific Heights"....

sf7307, the apartment would be great for a couple. It is over 500 sq. ft. The only drawback for a couple that I can think of is that there is not a lot of room to walk around in the bedroom. That said, the bed is large and comfortable and there is more than ample storage space. So, when in the bedroom, plan to be in the bed, and you should be fine!

Also, good San Francisco analogy! Just visited your fair city last week.

Thank Iregeo -- it's bookmarked!!

And hope you had fun here last week - at least you got the good weather (it's finally raining).

Great report. I think a lot of people feel like you do about traveling solo; it's a real luxury.

In a million years I would never have considered staying in the Paris hinterlands of the 17th. Thanks for the tip. You may be interested in knowing that Cardinal Sugers St. Denis is rumored to be the first Gothic Church to use the flying butress; an architectural innovation that allowed the great cathedrals at Rhone and Notre Dame to be built. Also, try the world's largest flea market at Cignancourt. It's the last, or first stop, on one of the metro lines.
