Hey Sweet Tooth! Got a Fav Patisserie in Provence?
 

Hello Folks...I've scoured the net, but I have yet to find real opinions on patisseries in Provence. I've travelled all over Europe, but it's my 1st time to the South of France and I am a bonafide dessert freak in search of the tastiest housemade desserts one can buy...think: a confection addict's adventure. I know most of you gastronomists delight in the savory part of the meal...often leaving little room for the happy ending. But anyone who's drooled in ecstasy over the Wienerbrod of Denmark, Zabaione of Florence or even Voodoo Donuts of Portland (yes, donuts!) knows what I'm talkin' bout!

Anyway, everyone seems to talk about french patisseries like they're a dime a dozen, but I know there's nuance there. So, please...someone who thinks they know...offer me 1 suggestion of a place worth waking up early and driving to. I thank u in advance. (if the suggestion lives up to its reputation, I'll fedex u a sample).

Provence is a huge area. Without knowing where you plan to be, suggesting a particular patisserie is a waste of our...and your...time. It would be like saying where in New York State should I go for a bagel.

They aren't that different, I can't imagine traveling all over Provence just to buy a piece of pastry. You need to say where you will be. For example, Au Pierrot Blanc in Apt (almond croquants a specialty) is good, but if you aren't going to be near Apt, it doesn't matter.

Yes, let us know where and I'm sure if it's within 100km of my house, I'll have some ideas for you !

To Jpie: you won't be disappointed with Chez Riederer, it's arguably the best in Aix and that is saying something...

to the others...i'll be based in the middle, so to go to the edge would be 3 hours drive at the most. but this is my point...i'm willing to explore. so just tell me your favs.

and to christina, there is no way that in a country that holds the MOF, that they "aren't that different". if u r not an aficionado, that's fine. but i'm sure there are many who'd disagree with your statement.

Condimented, I am not a huge sweets person, so i search out the best for that reason. If I am going to spend the calories, then I do want it to be special :)
