Hertz in Oxford

I plan to rent a car in Oxford and drive to the Cotswolds. According to advice on this forum, the easiest way to do this is to rent from Hertz in Kidlington.

When I go to the Hertz booking site, I don't see it as an option. It shows two locations in Oxford: Osney Mead - Ferry Hinskey Road, and Oxford Railway Station ('not a vehicle rental office'). Typing in Kidlington didn't work either.

What am I missing?

I last used the Kidlington location in June '09 and haven't heard of it moving/closing. Maybe flanner will see your thread and knows something.

As I remember, it wasn't a stand-alone Hertz depot but was located in a new car dealership.

There are phone/fax numbers and an email address listed here:
http://www.hertz.co.uk/rentacar/car-.../oxford/oxfc60

It appears to be a Ford & Vauxhall car dealership that is authorized to rent for Hertz, probably mostly as a convenience for their customers that are having cars serviced.

Thanks. I sent a message to that email address a few days ago but have received no response. This is baffling. Maybe I should forget about Hertz.

I'm not planning to drive that way in the next week or so.

But the poster is every bit as capable of phoning 01865 856555 as anyone else.

Why DO these people expect others to make their phone calls for them? Can't they speak English, or have they just forgotten how to pick up a phone?

Yes - definitely call. E-mails run amiss, get dumped in spam, who knows?? A simple phone call would solve your dilemma.

Oh -- when phoning -- drop the leading 0. Just dial international/country codes, 1865 and so on . . .

Where did I ask anyone to phone for me, flanneruk? I just thought someone here knew about it since it was mentioned on other posts. If you don't, fine. Nobody is forcing you to answer. And I am not 'these people'. I am one person asking a question on Fodors.

Thanks for the info, janisj.
