Here's some advice on choosing a hotel in Paris

Hello Fodorites---
I recently wrote a blog post about how to choose a hotel in Paris. I thought it might be of interest to the Forum, particularly to first-time visitors --
http://juliesparis.wordpress.com/201...ak-the-budget/

The post focuses on hotels in the 120-150 euro range and some advice on what to look for. We also remind US-based travelers of differences in hotel room size, and the way the French count floors. We discuss whether it's best to choose the "better-to-best room" at a moderate hotel or take the cheapest room at a fancier property. And we cover our list of our "must have" amenities like real beds, ensuite bathrooms and an elevator.

Since many of you are Paris aficionados, you'll have different advice and criteria to offer! Especially since we are in the minority view on the explosive "hotel breakfast" topic that is often debated here!

Feel free to leave a comment to tell us we're on the money, or to respectfully disagree and point out the egregious errors in our approach.

I hope this helps Paris-bound travelers in their trip planning!

Thanks for your replies (and nyse, for your support of JuliesParis!) I'm thinking of compiling a short list of hotels that meet the "ET criteria" based on the feedback I received.

There have been some excellent threads here on the Forum - I'm sure there is plenty of guidance on choosing hotels!

Regards--
Julie
