BillynBettyJones Nov 3rd, 2005 08:02 AM

laverendrye Nov 3rd, 2005 08:24 AM

ira Nov 3rd, 2005 08:32 AM

stevelyon Nov 3rd, 2005 01:43 PM

No hdm, but your on the right lines.

Bird Nov 3rd, 2005 02:06 PM

a universal sign of hello is to say "Pull on my finger"

rex Nov 3rd, 2005 03:33 PM

<<In Georgia, they say "Hey".>>

Really, ira? That's not what travlang.com says.

They list "gamarjobat" as the translation for "Hello" in Georgian.

You can hear it at http://www.travlang.com/languages/georgian/basics08.au

;)

Best wishes,

Rex

Rex, I believe you made the same mistake as my father. He sent his letter to Georgia, and got mad when the US post office sent it back.

The correct address would've said "republic of Georgia" as in the former Soviet Union.

Ira meant Georgia = USA state.

Scarlett Nov 3rd, 2005 03:43 PM

IN High Wickham, England,
Hello ducks~

rex Nov 3rd, 2005 06:15 PM

Yes, apparently you didnt catch the significance of my adding ;)

the "wink" was to make my comment tongue in cheek...

kleeblatt Nov 3rd, 2005 09:44 PM

Switzerland:

Formal: Gruezi, (Swiss form of Gruss Gott) Hallo
Informal: Salü, Hoi
and don't forget the handshake
or
the three cheek kiss

BillynBettyJones Nov 4th, 2005 01:05 PM

Here is another one I learned. Hear in Canader they say "hose it goan eh?" insteads of hello.

FainaAgain Nov 4th, 2005 01:09 PM

Here on Fodor's they sometimes greet you with an error message :(

BillynBettyJones Nov 4th, 2005 01:12 PM

Ooh here is another one I just thawt of. IN Japan they say "double arrow gotto Mr. Roboto" but that its not Europe its central America or some things.

Does anyone know how to say hello in the Chunky Terror? We'll hit it next Summer buts always good to start practising early. Takk u!!

Kath Nov 4th, 2005 01:14 PM

So finish up the fish thing Steve ... it's Friday.

bob_brown Nov 4th, 2005 02:10 PM

In Sweeten I thought they said Splenda.
Or Stevia.

stevelyon Nov 5th, 2005 03:13 AM

With regret Kath. Three fish beginning with K and ending in K:
1 KwikSave Frozen Haddock;
2 Killer Shark;
and:
3 Kilmarnock = now follow up and ask the obvious.
