Here's a challenge...
 

Dear Knowledgeable All<BR><BR>I have a quandry. My wife and I are desperate for a holiday (hopefully somewhere warm) this November. However, my wife has recently fallen pregnant and she has a (limited) history of miscarriage. As such, long haul destinations are out due to concerns about health care levels or because of inability to get travel insurance.<BR><BR>So, it looks like we're restricted to Europe. Due to the above medical concerns, my wife has stated that she wants to take it very easy, which is fine by me except the November weather in Europe could be problematic - speciically, if it's not hot enough to slob around, then your next option is (presumably) some form of activity.<BR><BR>So, what do we do? Any advice/recommendations for a laid back, non active, European holiday greatly appreciated. We'd like warm but frankly we'd forget that if we can just curl up somewhere special.<BR><BR>Thanks in advance for any ideas...

You could look into Madeira which is mild throughout the year and a relaxing kind of destination. <BR><BR>There are plenty of sights to see but nothing major that must be ticked off, so no pressure.<BR><BR>Eating out is wonderful.<BR><BR>The country is just beautiful.<BR><BR>Kavey

Venice is fairly magical in the Winter - I was there for Christmas once, and, although cold, it was stunning. There's lots of indoor places to go to as well...<BR><BR>Alternatively, Majorca and Menorca are not unpleasant at that time of year - I've been in December, and it was quite quiet, so there was lots of opportunity to look around without it being too hot or busy. <BR><BR>Also, my (then) pregnant friend was in Cyprus in January, and she and her husband pronounced it quite a success.<BR><BR>Good LucK!

Even with a limited history of miscarriage, I would not want to take a chance to travel at this time. This is my opinion only. Traveling anywhere is more stressful nowadays than before and being pregnant adds to the stress. Even if it means having to wait another year or even more to travel, at least by then you can go where you really want to go and enjoy it better. Sure, you'd have a child going along with you both and it's alot of work but there is alot of sacrifices you make when you have children.

"Fallen pregnant"?<BR><BR>I would stay within 1-2 hours of your hometown in case of a medical emergency. <BR><BR>Find someplace with a fireplace and snuggle.

How about a cruise in the Greek Isles?<BR>You can have a day trip if you like, or just enjoy the scenery. The food isn't bad and medical care is available 24/7.<BR><BR>There are several Med cruises that include Barcelona, Venice, Rome, etc.<BR><BR>Good luck and enjoy!<BR>

STU..when are you planning on travelling.

Cyprus is still warm in November. I used to live there and I have photos of myself on the beach in November and sitting on an outside terrace watching the TV at night.

Lisbon is lovely and romantic in November, so is Andalucia, free of tourists and excessive heat. If you are a bit more adventurous, a great place to curl up in affordable luxury is Marrakesh - don't worry, private healthcare there is of more accessible and much better quality than the NHS ! "Fallen pregnant" is such a funny way of putting it. As if she caught it!<BR>Oops, honey, I seem to have fallen pregnant!<BR><BR>I would not fly anywhere while early pregnant with a history of miscarriage. If nothing happens, you will worry the whole time that it might.<BR>If something happens, you will blame yourselves.<BR>Why not stay closer to home, go to a luxurious spa sort of place, treat yourselves nicely and wait until the timing is better to fly. <BR>Good luck:)
