Helsingor/Helsingborg
 

We will be on a repositioning cruise in May, will have a day Helsingborg. We want to do something other than a shore excursion, using either feet, taxi or public transit. We like scenery, mingling with locals, finding our own way. We don't like crowds, prefer not to be herded onto tour bus.

Any suggestions?

We are considering: Sofiero (will the rhododendrons be blooming early, May 18.?) vs. Kronborg vs. a pleasant walk.

I understand Sofiero is +-3 miles from cruise dock. Correct? We would have no problem walking 3 miles if the roads have safe walkways.

Are you being dropped in Copenhagen? If you don;t have time there that's where I would go. Not sure of public transit but there must be some.

Yes, the next day we disembark in Copenhagen, so we will stay in the Helsingborg area when the ship is there. Suggestions for good use of our 30 hours in Copenhagen?

Helsingborg is in Sweden, across the sea from Helsingoer. Doubt anyone would stay in Helsingborg if you dock in Copenhagen.

2. Take the train to Roskilde, home of the Viking Museum and the Cathedral.

If you're in Helsingor, I would see Kronberg Castle, then take the train to the Louisiana Museum. Art, some scenery, some history and some mingling.
