help with Venice hotels

going to Venice with a friend in April and having a hard time finding a room with TWO beds ( 3 star hotel).
Almost all hotels I have looked at on Venere have only one double bed.
Is Venice for lovers only?

A lot of European hotels seem to have double beds that are just two twins pushed together. I would consider emailing a few of the hotels and seeing if they will make up the room with the two twins instead of a a single double bed - it may be routine for them. Venere may simply not have a way to book the hotel that way. Try booking the hotels directly at their websites and see if there's any difference.

Let me toss out www.cross-pollinate.com as a place to look for apartments and B&Bs in Venice. I was happy with the apartment I got in Venice through them.

In many trips to Italy, i have found more often than not that a double is actualy two twins pushed togheter or made up as one bed as Andrew says. I know for a fact that i is true of my new favorite in Venice:

This is a 3- or 4-star hotel masquerading as a 2-star hotel. Read the excellent reviews at Tripadvisor.com

I know La Forcola hotel (the only one I've stayed at in Venice and a 3* hotel) has twin rooms.

One thing you have to consider is that the beds might be closer together than you want (although I don't know how La Forcola is in this regard).

Would you consider it worthwhile to get a cheaper hotel but have separate single rooms? If cost is a concern, with some B&Bs (or maybe even hotels), you might even be able to set it up so you share the bathroom between your two rooms only.

thanks so much
My friend and I had the same problem in Paris - the beds were pushed apart to make it twins but ,like most European hotels, the room was so small there were a few inches between the beds.
Many people travel with friends, relatives,or just cannot share a bed with their partner for some reason.

The idea of 2 rooms may work but we
like to stay in hotels and sharing cost for a nice room would be ideal.
thanks again.

Danon-try a lovely little hotel right behind the Guggenheim in Dorsoduro-I they have twins:

CA DEL BROCCHI-on Rio Tera San Vio-it gets great reviews on TA, and is fully renovated. You can see the twin room on their website, and they go for around 155Euro/nt. in April:

The Antico Panada, near P. San Marco, has twin rooms. The rooms are small and the beds are close together, but they are separate beds.

hi cheryllj
thanks a lot . looks great. the 2 beds close together is what one finds ( if one CAN find it at all) in most 3 star European hotels.
