help with Venice Hotel

We are looking for a good 3 star hotel, centrally located in Venice. With so many to choose from, its difficult to decide.

Good afternoon, Anne
Have used the Hotels ALA and DO POZZI
a number of times in past years both
are small three star hotels and the Do Pozzi is about two blocks west of the
Pza S. Marco and the Ala about 2 1/2 blocks west in a small square. Both
have good ristorantes adjacent.. the
Rafealle and the Giglio.. Another
good one and nearer to the Pza S. Marco
is the KETTE. Check into www.veniceinfo.it/ for additional hotels and information. Venice is a place one either loves or hates.
Richard of La Grange Park, IL...
I second the vote for the Kette - have stayed there three times and have never been disappointed. Have also been to the restaurant that Richard mentions - Da Raffaele - very good - cozy inside when it's cold and dining outside by a canal when the weather is good.

Do not know how many stars, but we stayed at the Al Gambero on Calle dei Fabbri last September from recommendations on this forum. The rooms were small but recently remodeled with new baths and bedrooms. It is centrally located between St Marks and Rialto. We will use it again on next trip to Venice. Double with breakfast was about $115.

I just got back from Venice today. We stayed at Hotel San Moise--a three minute walk from San Marco. (We used the vaporetto to get to the hotel--we took got off at the last stop before San Marco; it was a two minute walk with luggage.)

It is a beautiful 3 star hotel with air conditioning. I highly recommend it. $125 a night for 2.

www.sanmoise.it

Deborah

Try the hotel bruno between the Rialto bridge and San Marco. It was about $85. in May and it has a good resturaunt around the corner and it is quiet.

To help limit what seem like limitless choice, I can recommend after several visits to Venice that you avoid the tourist throngs around San Marco and Rialto by booking your hotel in the quieter and more beautiful Accademia/ Dorsoduro area. I also wasn't crazy about the Do Pozzi.
