Help with two distances in Cotswolds
 

1) How long with it take to get from Woodstock to Castle Combe/Bath ??

2) Again, how long will it take to get from
Bath to Warwick??

The area on the maps looks small - but I am
wondering what people have really found it takes when traveling the Cotswolds.

If you will go to http://www.mappy.com, you will be able to type in the town names and find out how long it will take, how far it is and if there are any tolls. You even have a choice of routes.

Perhaps someone here can answer your questions, but you can use mappy and get your answer. You might even want to bookmark it for future trips.

In both cases, the web sites recommend routes I wouldn't. The default strategy is to send you to a motorway - and for your journeys, that really misses the point for most people.

You'd do better to use http://rp.rac.co.uk/routeplanner, then under "preferences" select "no motorway".

Then multiply the time the machine suggests by a factor. Early on a Saturday morning, add 10-15%. If your journey is during a time agricultural vehicles are prone to be out, or parents are likely to be collecting kids from school, add 40%.

I've just received a speeding ticket because Mrs F trusted the times suggested by these sites for one of the journeys you're looking at.

Mappy also gives you a choice of routes. You don't have to take the autoroute; there is a scenic version.
