My only Spain adventure was Barcelona. Spent a few days before and after a cruise. It was a happening place. English was widely spoken; food was terrific. Hotel (The Arts) was top notch. A great walking city and a good inner city bus shuttle. You may want to tie in Barcelona with another city but I highly recommend it.

We absolutely loved Andalucia. Seville, Granada and the pueblos blancos were a wonderful travel experience and were exactly as I imagined Spain. With 2 weeks, you could have a wonderful trip to Andalucia and perhaps add either Barcelona or Madrid to your trip. What time of year do you plan to travel?

you could search here for trip reports on spian, read tehm , adn tehn tell us what aeras appeal to you.. mountains, beach, big cities, rural country hotels, modern hotels with pools.. etc. you will get better answers for your request.

spain is so varied and vast, that you will need to define at least a few areas of personal interest or level of comfort.

also.. you driving around.. training.. bussing?

makes a big difference of where you can go easily.

Thanks for the info, Do you think we can do this on our own, do we need to rent a car, are there private tour guides in Spain and do you know a co to contact? Thanks

i have been away.
sorry for the delay.

the capitals of provinces are well connected by train.. but to enjoy the small towns in between, ( which are the ones i like best usually)a car is a necessity.
the paradors (castle hotels) are pretty much off the beaten track sometimes..

but you must decide this.

is there a tour that pulls in a lot of what you want to see?? i have no idea. have never taken one. but i am sure you would see all the highlights and be whisked through lines, etc. at hard to get into places.

doubt the age group would be appealing to the boys.
it would be distracting and lose the great family feel of the trip if you do a big group thing for all of it. perhaps a day trip here and there.

but this board can give you so many easy ways to go everywhere.. you shouldn't have a problem.

i must go now but will check in later.
