Rothenburg IS part of Bavaria. Bavaria is pretty big - stretches north to within several miles of Frankfurt, actually. But I think it's a solid idea to drop the car outside Munich if possible and train in. I imagine somewhere like Landsberg am Lech would be good if the company you're with will let you drop there.
If you're axing Salzburg you have a lot of time to meander your way between Rothenburg and Munich. On your way south. I would suggest visiting the old walled town of Weissenburg and the village of Pappenheim along the attractive Altmühl River; Pappenheim has a ruined castle in the center of town and a good falconry show on the castle grounds. Whether Füssen is a good base depends on what you towns you visit. I prefer the Garmisch area overall. Nearby Mittenwald is precious too if you want a smaller village. Not hard to get to Füssen from Garmisch if you have a car. |
hi, again, maria,
this looks much better. if anything, you now have too much time in Bavaria, since, as Russ says, Rothenburg is in Bavaria. I would consider taking a night from your Bavaria section, and adding it to the mosel, especially as it would give you a chance to recover from any jet-lag. regards, ann regards, |
