Help with tours in Rome for 9 year old

Our family with 9 year old son will be in Rome for 4 nights. We want to show him major sites and make it a education as well as fun. I've read about various tour company Enjoy Rome, Though Eternity, Scala Reale. What company is the best choice for kid and what tour(s) should we select. I've read about night tour. Should we take bus tour or walking tour at night and what company or maybe just walk around at evening
Thanks a lot for any input

We have travelled extensively with our children 14,12,10 & 5. We find the trick is to do 3 to 4 hour morning tours. Kids take it on board in short sharp bursts. In 99 we took 2 of the kids to Europe (then 9 & 6) both of them can still tell you all the where, whens and why fores on each place.
Another thing we do is "give the the power" tell your son he is in charge on one of the days. Let him get on the net, read the books and come up with a game plan. You will have a blast !

Go to the Time Elevator at the beginning of your trip. It's a movie about Rome, the seats move. It gives an overview of Rome's history, and my kids (age 9-11) loved it. It's off the Via Corso, close to the Piazza Venezia. We did half day touring, with a guide, and the afternoons were decided toghether. We had a private Dutch guide, so not much help for you.
