Help with Spain Itinerary

My husband and I will be on a Cosmos tour in Italy for nine days and we will then be flying to Barcelona on 5/6; 5/8 fly to Ibiza or Madrid and then 5/10 Madrid/ibiza and then possibly flying back to Chicago on 5/12 from Madrid. We are trying to meet with friends who will be in Spain that week. Does this sound too crazy? Two days in each place enough for now? Thanks!

I'm confused. Do you want to fly to Ibiza, Madrid or both? There are non-stops available between Madrid and Ibiza as well as flights from Barcelona and Ibiza. You can do both if you want to spend all of your free time in the airport or on a plane.

I'd suggest you pick one location, have your friends meet you there, and relax and enjoy yourselves.

Have you been to Spain before? If you haven't and the choice is between Ibiza and almost any other location in Spain I would definitely skip Ibiza. Unless you love to party you can certainly do the "beach" thing in Ibiza or on another mainland beach. You could easily see all that Ibiza Town has to offer within a couple of hours.

Oops sorry...I meant to say you could do the beach thing in Sitges or any other mainland beach. Actually, you could do the party scene in Sitges, too!

Thanks for the tips. I have not been back to Spain for almost ten years. I was worried about spending too much time at the airport also, but yes I was going to fly from BCN to MAD and then to IBZ. Any suggestions on where to stay in Madrid and Barcelona and where is Sitges? Thanks!

If you have a budget, it would help in making hotel suggestions.

Sitges is just south of Barcelona, along the coast on the way to Tarragona. You can get there by train in no time.

I am looking for three star hotels which are close to the city's attractions, restaurants, clubs, etc. thanks!
