Help with Rome Itinerary

We are visiting Rome in July. We will be there for 2 days (and then 1-1/2 days at the end of our trip). Would like help with what we should and what we will be able to see. Also, some favorite places to eat. Thanks !

Your previous post has helpful information, and you indicate there you have done some research.

What are your interests - what would you like to see/do? Ancient Rome? Vatican City? Public areas? Museums?

If you can be more specific you'll get more useful information. If you are trying to get a feel for how long it takes to see/do something consider why you are there. Some people can spend all day in Vatican City, others only want to see St. Peters and the Sistene Chapel and can be done in a couple of hours max.

As for restaurants, it will help if you give some indication as to how much you anticipate spending for a meal, or if you are looking for a particular atmosphere.

I am interested in Ancient Rome, Vatican City-Sistine Chapel, Trevi Fountain, and the atmosphere, people and buildings. Also, the Jewish ghetto. I want to "feel" Italy--does that make sense? I am in love with it before I am even there.
As far as restaurants--reasonably priced--great food.

With such a short time I would highly recommend you book a tour for Ancient Rome and the Vatican. You will get a lot more out of your time spent there. We used Context Rome (Scala Reale) which many people on this board recommend. There are also several other highly recommended tour guides on this board.

For restaurants, I would suggest you search this board and come with a list of restaurants recommended here. Try to get info. here regarding location, address, etc. to bring with you. Then when you are there you can pick a place based on where you may be that day. My trip report talks about all the restaurants we ate at along with address and sometimes I listed the cost. You can find it by title "Family of 4 lives La Dolce Vita for 2 weeks."
