Help with Rental Car Questions in Turkey?
 

We are wondering if it is possible to rent a car in Antalya to drive to Cappadocia and do it as a one way drop off? This would allow us to travel throughout Cappadocia with a car. Later, we could either leave the car in Kaseri (airport close to Cappodocia) or Ankara so that we could fly the return leg. Has anyone done this or know of some car rental companies/travel agents that could help us with this? Thanks for any insight you can provide.

We rented one in Kaseri and dropped off at Kusadasi. There are one way rentals available. We did ours through AutoEurope which gave us a couple of options. I'm not sure how fully their website is set up for Turkish rentals, but I'd suggest calling them instead.

You can rent a car when you arrive Antalya but fist of all you should arrange your flight tickets and give the details the company which you rent a car. You can drop off your car at the any airport. Many of the guest rent like this.

Having been to Turkey for a week in 2003 and taken public transportation or a guide/driver, I can't say I'd drive in Turkey for five minutes. I'm not sure if it's scarier than driving in Rome, but it's a close call.

Just a heads up that the rules of the road are simply guidelines, if that, and to be prepared for that if you choose to drive. Get the Collision Damage Waiver so you can walk away from the car, that's for sure.

We drove in Turkey and never had a problem. One way car rental is common to do. We picked up a car in Antalya and dropped it off in Izmir. We used an awesome travel agent recommend by several books - Argeus travel who did it all. They were great. [email protected]

Wow, jules. That wasn't our experience at all. In fairness we did not drive in Ankara or Istanbul, and are glad we didn't. But from Keyseri, to Antalya, and then up the coast to Kusadasi, it was the easiest and nicest driving we've done anywhere in Europe. The roads were in super condition, generally pretty wide, well marked (in English or with place names), and there was very little traffic. We did have to watch out for the occassional donkey cart here and there, but it was all beautiful, scenic, and very pleasant.
