Tegdale: First of all, I apologize for assuming that you were either from US or UK.

More important, however, is that the apartment you rented looks wonderful! From my own brief experience, I would say that the accommodation standards in this region are very high, and your links certainly attest to that. The location will be fine--the Salento peninsula is not that large and you can cover it from any base. If we had had one more day, we would have visited Galatina, and maybe Galatone. With only two days in that area, time was very tight.

I am quite eager to hear about your exploits--a way of reliving a wonderful week for me.

What wonderful reading! As Ted mentioned, I have rented an apartment in Galatina for the month of March and I'm already quite excited.
I have a friend joining me for the last two weeks, and we will rent a car, and see the sites. For the first two weeks, I'll be 'living the life' in Galatina, perhaps taking day trips on the bus.

For sure I'll need an ATM since I'll be there for a month. It's good to know the NA credit cards won't be a problem at the gas stations.
Ted I was not aware of the unmanned stations. Good to know.

Thank you all for the great information.

Ekscrunchy, I am simply all agog to hear about Puglia, in paticular your restauarant and foodie experiences, before I depart in ten days time. Even small clues to your best experiences would be brilliant !!

I will try to write the report before you leave! If not, do not worry because I will give you the tips on eating in that area before you leave. We did see the local funghi--at restaurants and sold in boxes by people off the back of trucks. Where exactly are you staying near Fasano?

We have rented a Trulli which is on hill above Fasono looking towards the sea. I think a mile or so from centre and so hope to do some self catering with local produce and some eating out. We will have a car and will probably be mainly within about an hour driving radius maybe a bit further for Lecce. Am excited re your news of funghi !
