Help with PrREM tickets for TGV
 

I'm looking for PREM tickets for the TGV from Gare de Lyon to Avignon for May 1. There's not a very good selection at this time and some of them say HURRY, LAST SEATS AVAILABLE! I do not have any experience with reservations on TVG so I'm wondering if I should just pick a time and price even though the prices are high or is there a good chance that better pricing and times will show up. I still have a little over 3 months but it is a big holiday in France on that day.

That LAST SEATS AVAILABLE quote also scares me.

If you know which day you want to travel and there are PREMS fares available for trains that you can accept, buy them.

They are telling you that the super cheap PREM seats are almost gone. You should have booked them on Jan 31 at 6:15 PM eastern time. Seats will not be less expensive later. Like Ira says - May 1 is a huge holiday travel day - especially this year when it is on a Friday and the Parisians want to get to the Cote d'Azur & Provence for a 3 day weekend.

There is a slight drop in price right during the last week -- assuming that all seats have not been sold. That is pretty much unheard of for Paris-Avignon, though.

May 1 is International Day of Labor, as in labor unions. Since all of the railway system is unionized, the rallies and speechifying in squares and union halls and the parades etc. take away a lot of personnel, schedules are sketchy, and all bets are off for much of the day, especially the morning.

Booking non-refundable specials for that day might not be advisable.
