Help with Portugal Info???

Dear Everyone,
My fiancee and I are planning our honeymoon in Portugal. We would like to spend a few days in Lisbon, Costa Azul and then off to the Azores. We are very athletic and would like to bring our bikes. Can anyone recommend a good source of info (book?) on these areas or the bike trails...and better yet...places to stay? Thanks.
Milissa

Dear Milissa!
I just search the web for biking in Portugal and came up with this:
www-math.science.unitn.it/Bike/Countries/Portugal
Seems like a very informative report on cycling in Portugal.
For books other than Fodors,Frommers,Lonely Planet try this:
www.europe-today.com/portugal/books1.htm
There's an extensive list of some not well known and directed to special interests.
Regarding the Azores, are you going to hop from island to island (The Azores is a 9 islands archipelago) or just Sao Miguel.Again, another website that's extremely useful and well done:
www.virtualazores.com/jorn/Eindex.htm
There you'll find a lot of information about all the 9 islands.
Feel free to post again if you need some more information.
Save the Azores for your honeymoon! It's paradise.
Best wishes

Hello. I have a good tip. In Cascais, there are several bike lanes, near the coast line, with great views.
You can also go to Sintra.
Note that the Azores is probably a good place to move around by bike.
Last note. I checked one of the web sites that wells reccomended (europe-today), and I guess that it´s very little usefull. There are wrong informations there. The currency is no longer the escudo, but the euro.
Have fun, and yes...save Azores to last.

If you'll be in Lisbon, consider a 40 min. drive to Obidos. There's a midieval castle there and inside the castle walls there is a small quaint village where people still live and shop! There are also B&Bs in the village. It's perfect for biking or walking through.

I understand you would like to find a book that could help you with organizing your trip. Unfortunately cycle touring in Portugal is quite a new thing for other nationals and even more to the Portuguese! Therefore there are no publications out there to help you with it, eventually some tourist offices will provide you regular tourist info.

Check out the site below, at least will give you some ideas of where is worthing to go and ride a bike!

Good luck! Let me know if I can help biker!

www.bikeiberia.com
Experience the best of Portugal and Spain by bike! <<<<<<<<<<<<&l t;<<<<<<
