Help with Paris Itinerary
 

We arrive in Paris on the morning of April 8th from the states. We will be ready to do something. We usually do not have much jet lag the first day. We are celebrating our 35th wedding anniversary in Paris. Neither of us has ever been.

We are staying in an apt.in-between I rue Buci and St. Michel. I desperately need help planning my itinerary. We are leaving the 16th.

We are paying in dollars I am sad to say. Our splurge will be a cooking class at the Ritz.

We wanted to eat at the Jules Verne, but I think I read the new price of 260E per person is too much for our budget. Does anyone know the price to be otherwise?

Can anyone help us plan so that we see it all smartly. At this time we're both in good shape and plan to walk all over.


We want to see the major sights.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Any books you suggest with great walking tours?

you might want to take a look at the Destinations link above and look at the suggestions for what to do if you X number of days. That will give you an idea of where to start. There is a lot to see and do and eat and drink in Paris and it is hard recommend what you would enjoy. there is a ton of info on the forum, this thread is a good place to start (100 things to do in Paris):

Degas has posted several walking intineraries. I've used a couple of them and also a book called Parks Walks (unsure of author). Here's one of Degas' walks of the Latin Quarter. You can find the others with a search I think

this should give you a starting place. My big recommendation is to take it slow and easy, enjoy being in Paris. Take time for a coffee or cocktail at the sidewalk cafes. I love walking and just exploring, stopping when the mood strikes for a bite to eat or drink.

I like the area where you will be staying..you can leave your things at the hotel and just take off, go to a cafe in the neighborhood or to a particular one that you might read about ( Cafe Deux Magot, Cafe Flore) and have some coffee and a croissant and relax and start soaking up the atmosphere ~

We always stay on the Left Bank, we always do this .. we walk the small streets, stopping and looking in windows..walk on rue Jacob, look at the shops , on Blvd St Germain you can go to Book stores and shops..

We usually planned a museum a day, D'Orsay ( have lunch in their cafe) , Louvre,( Cafe Marly is nice for afternoon tea and sweets) , Invalides,( right close to the Rodin Museum) , Versailles ( if you want to leave Paris for a few hours), Carnavalet which puts you in the Marais and the Place des Vosges..soooo beautiful! and the Picasso Museum is there too ...
Will you have enough time? lol

Mine is all worn and full of notes :)

We stay in your area when we visit Paris.

We usually take a walk down to the Seine and a stroll along the river our first day.

www.lesombres-restaurant.com/ has a dinner tasting menu for 95E.

Lunch at www.taillevent.com is only 70E. Dinner is 140E.
