Help with Paris hotel & location

Is there one location better than another to stay in Paris, Rick Steve's seems to really like the area around Rue Cler. Can anyone help with a hotel around a good area 150 Euros top, thanks.

If you ask 20 fodorites for their recommendation for a good neighborhood - you'll get 30 or 40 suggestions - and all will be right.

Every part of Paris has it's fans. I prefer the 5th, but others will say the Marais, or the 6th or the 1st or ??

Do a search on here - there are hundreds of threads about hotels in Paris. Read over some of them and you'll get all sorts of ideas . . . .

Almost anywhere in arrondiesments 1-8 are very central to the major sights of Paris. There are MANY hotels in your price range in the 2-3* range.

Hi

I stayed at the Hilton near the Eiffel tower when I went to Paris the last time. The hotel didn't impress me that much but the location was good. I have posted a trip report with pictures from my trip to Paris last year on my homepage http://gardkarlsen.com/Paris_France.htm . Maybe you can find some useful info there.

OK, so it looks like I can't go wrong since everything seems to be centrally located.

Since we're not going to be in the room much I just want something clean and inexpensive, what are your thoughts on Grand Hotel Leveque or Hotel du Champ de Mars in the Heart of Rue Cler, or Hotel St. Louis Marais and Hotel de 7eme Art in the Marais area. I'm opened to other suggestions for hotels but I do not want an apartment. Thank you for your help.

Try Grand Hotel Leveque in the rue Cler.
My DIL has stayed there 3 times - once with a friend, once with her dtr, and once with her husband and 11 year old boy. A best buy.
