Hi Leah,

What about Mont St Michel. It is sooo beautiful. La Mere Poulard has accommodation from $162 US a night. Once all of the tourists have gone for the day the evenings on Mont St Micheal are wonderful. I stayed there in 2005 but without my husband. I still wish he had been there.

Etretat. Enormous cliffs overlooking the ocean. Go for a hike along the paths and find the spot there.

Make sure it is insured before he goes. Please.

I agree about le Mont-St-Michel (especially at night after everyone leaves and it's just magical), but disagree completely about La Mère Poulard. Tourist rip-off if there ever was one, and those hokey omelettes are just horrid, IMO.

Breaking in here.
St. Cirq where do you recommend that one could look out and see St. Michel lit up at night. I don't think I want to spend the night on the mont.

hoping:

I booked some of my travel clients at the Relais St-Michel last year and they raved about it and the view. I have no personal experience with the place, though it did get great reviews.

On a weekday evening on the Old Harbor in Honfleur, at a quayside table, outside, at the Vieux Honfleur. Reserve for 8:30 p.m. and explain the purpose. Your brother and his soon-to-be financee will not be alone, but here is the scene:

Did I mention Champagne?

St. Cirq. Thanks. I'll look it up.
If you're going to the Dordogne this summer, I hope you have a great time!
