Help with Nice/Côte d'Azur itinerary

Hi all, just wanted some advice on a 3.5 day itinerary in the Cote d'Azur - we are going end of August and I'm trying to balance not rushing around but also fitting in time to see what we want.

My itinerary is mostly concerned with the logistics of getting from 1 place to another. I should mention that Nice is our base for the 3 nights and we will almost certainly be relying on public transport. So far:

D1: Villefranche, Monaco (late afternoon/evening)

D2: Eze, Cap d'Ail, make way back to Beaulieu and visit the 2 villas, walk Cap Ferrat, back to Nice for the evening

D3: Antibes, Nice sightseeing

D4: Nice

My main concern is around D2, I have no idea if a) it's too much and b) what would be the best order to do those in. Also is there any other place that is missing that I should try to see. I decided against St Paul de Vence for instance because it's a 1 hour bus ride away and in a direction where not much else of interest (at least from my limited knowledge).

Any advice around the itinerary and transport logistics would be most helpful. I am also toying with the idea of hiring a car for the day on D2 to drive to those places, and drop it off again that evening in Nice, any thoughts there?

Thanks very much in advance

1. Visit Eze village on the way to or from Monaco.

2. Visit Villefranche-sur-Mer, St-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, and Beaulieu on another day.

Spend the third day in Nice and the fourth in Antibes.

Avoid renting a car, as it will be (1) expensive for just one day and (2) hard to find parking places.

Thanks for your reply Underhill - sounds like moving Eze to the monaco day may be the way to go, I hear it's very small so should be good to fit in if it's on the way.

Any logistical issues with adding Cap d'Ail on the VilleFranche, Cap Ferrat day in terms of transport? I think I will be avoiding the car hire then - thanks again

Put in Nice Ville to Monaco-Monte Carlo and see the stops along the way:

The promenade around Cap Ferrat is just wonderful.

Yes, do Eze en route to Monaco; approach Monaco from the Upper Corniche, fantastic views; then combine Beaulieu/Villefranche on another day; I'd drive west to St. Tropez/Cannes/Antibes on the third, getting in the Picasso Museum there. Nice is great base, but didnt love it like the other towns.

p.s. We arrived Nice by train and left by air, and had no problems with car rental/parking, but we were there in late September.
