Help with London at Christmas

I know I already asked this but does anone have any more comments about London at Christmas?

janisj Sep 6th, 2006 07:40 PM

Well since you don't tell us what was already said - it is hard to know what else you need to know.

Why not top your other questions ad see if someone has anything whorthwhile to add . . . . . .

London is closed on Christmas Day (like most of the UK).

The only public transport is to & from airports, taxi's are VERY expensive, eating on Christmas Day means eating at your hotel, making a booking somewhere well in advance (assuming they are open), a curry (Southall, Brick Lane?) or MacDonalds.

Tourist attractions, theatres, cinemas & shops are closed.

Boxing Day is slightly better as some shops, cinemas & theatres are open and there is public transport. Attractions may be open but you'd have to check each website to know.

Also you may find that your train/tube is replaced by a bus due to engineering works

Our family of 4 was in London last year from 25 December to 1 January. Below is the link to my report that was suggested above.

Please let me know what kinds of questions you have. Also, note that I don't think we would have had as much trouble finding somewhere to eat on Boxing Day if we hadn't waited till so late. Some things did seem open before we entered the movie, but must have closed early.

You may need to do a bit more homework ahead of time to check hours, but there are things to do. And, London was truly gorgeous all lit up and decorated for the holidays.

I hope my report is of help. Let me know if you have any specific questions.
