Help with London apartment choices

I'm back on the hunt for a London apartment after a bit of a break. We're a family of 5, and want something centrally located for sightseeing with 3 boys, safe, convenient, etc. We don't mind something on the smaller side as it's still better than a hotel!

Here's what I'm currently looking at. I realize some have 1 vs 2 baths, but that's ok. I'm really looking for input on the locations and agencies/renters.

Thanks!

If you pay 300 quid to stay in Bayswater, you're daft. That's approaching a Mayfair type rate and Bayswater is NOT centrally located for sightseeing.

I'm thinking the first or third is best for your purposes - the locations are good, especially the third one and unlike #4 with pronounced noise, #3's bedrooms are off the street. #1 is likely quieter but it's well located near the British Museum and Tottenham Court Road and only a short bus or Tube ride from Westminster.

I have never heard of 'Your Nice Apartment' but that doesn't mean a whole heck of a lot. I have stayed twice in flats less than a block from there @ Goodge and Whitfield streets (Those are no longer short term lets). That description is taking a bit of liberties w/ the location. It is a fine area -- but they make it sound like you are a short walk from B'ham Palace or Big Ben. It is about 2 miles by the most direct route to the Palace, a bit less to Big Ben.

I personally would not stay at the Vancouver Studios. It is not at allin a convenient location - especially for £300 a night. Close to Portobello Rd Market and kensington Gardens but not anything else.

London Connections is a well known listing agency and St Martin's Lane is a terrific central location.

And the VRBO property is also very central/well located

Hope that helps.

Dolphin House is a wonderfully quiet spot. The tranquillity is all the more surprising given its close proximity to Victoria, making it convenient for Westminster and ...

Well, the first london connections apartment may not be available for our stay, so I'm now looking at a different apartment instead (which they said can hold 5). I think it's between these two. Let me know what you think!

Well the first one only sleeps 4 people - so I don;t know how you will work with 5. The second says it can sleep 6 - but it seems to list only beds - and dining chairs for 4. I would definitely ask specific questions about where you put a 5th person. (Are these toddlers or tiny kids that can share a twin bed?)

did you mean to link to the same 'your nice apartment' flat as in your first post? If so My comments still apply.

London Connection is a long established, well known company.

As for Yourniceapartment . . . in their "About Us" section they say they were established in 2007. That seems strange to be around that long and still under the radar.

I'd personally try to work w/ London Connection to find a place that meets your needs.

Or maybe see if one of these is available for your dates. http://www.users.globalnet.co.uk/~hamlet_uk/

illinileo,

I remember when you were looking before - it is frustrating, isn't it?

Both of these places look nice to me. I am assuming the fifth person will sleep on the couch in either place?

I really love the location of the first one and the second bedroom (with the twin beds) looks nice sized. However I am wondering about the eating space. The picture of the living room shows the couch on one side and then on the other side I see part of what looks like a small table. Do you know if there is a table big enough to sit five, or a breakfast bar by the kitchen or anything?

The second one is nice with two couches and more sitting/living space, but I don't like the sleeping area or location as much.

janisj- i did mean to link the same apartment as before- I am trying to narrow things down and still am considering that one.

armamax2- I'm booking places for a month long vacation, so I put the London portion aside for a bit and finished booking some of the other spots first. It is frustrating, as I've never been to London before, and don't want to book something only to find out it's not in the best place.

I'm less worried about the space than I am about the location. I'm leaning towards the smaller london connections apartment. I know it's not as roomy as some of the other spots, but we're pretty adaptable.

I prefer the Charlotte street location over the location of your london connection flat but I prefer a little less busy area. Charlotte street has a bit more of a local feeling to me although it is still a busy street with many shops including a Nicholas wine store and many moderate restaurants.
Both are close to a tube shop.

Try Nell Gwynn house, very well located with good transportation.t is just off the King's Road in Chelsea. Lots of good restaurants, and shopping right across the street from apts. They are also serviced so no clean up to cut into your time They come with washers and dryers too. They have a desk and Concierge service and the prices for rentals of more than 2 week is very good/
