Help with Lapland
Hi everyone.
I am considering a UK- Lapland experience. I really want to see the Northern Lights and saw something about glass igloos where you can stay to see the lights. I also want to go to Santa-Claise villiage, and ride a reindeer sled and a husky sled. Does anyone have any suggestions of how to start planning a vacation like this - contact numbers and the like? Thank-you so much. |
Hi there!
I really suggest you look at Trip Advisor's Lapland forum which will give you lots of ideas of where to start. Happy planning! |
Those glass igloos are in Kakslauttanen. Here: http://www.kakslauttanen.fi/winter_k...ecialities.php

And here you find answers to just about everything you might want to ask:

That sounds SO exciting. While at university, part of my specialty included studies of Lapland. I'm not into cold weather so wouldn't last an hour which is why I lived in Scandinavia, for decades, only during the summer months. Smiles. Have a great time and I REALLY hope you do a trip report on it. Happy Travels!

Thank-you all. I will look at the websites and see what I find.

I am thinking of doing a trip to Lapland during my home exchange in Finland next summer. I understand there is white water rafting available. Can anyone direct me to an appropriate website or give me some information? Thanks.

I'm now reading a memoir/travel book by a woman who spent a lot of time in Lapland, it could be very informative and she's a good writer. It is called Palace of the Snow Queen by Barbara Sjoholm.

Thanks for both of you who responded. I have bookmarked the site with the river rafting.
I will also check out the book. |
You donīt have to go all the way to Lapland to experience white water rafting. Eastern Finland has some of the best rapids.
Google Ruunaankoski. Check also www.koli.fi and www.ruka.fi |
Thanks for the websites!
