Help with Italy Strike info........

Hello,
We arrive in Rome on May 14th about 9:00a.m. and were planning to take the express train to Termini station which is 2 blocks from our hotel. We are in need of advice concerning the attached strike. Should we hire a limo or will the strike affect us. Thanks for your help..
Gary
May 13th ~ May 14th 2004: 24 hours nationwide strike of Italian railroaders and maritime personnel belonging to FS (Ferrovie dello Stato - State Railroads), from 2100 (May. 13) till 2100 (May. 14).

The strike ends at 9 pm. (2100) on the 14th so since you arrive at 9 am. it will certainly affect you.

FS train strikes do not effect the Airport-Termini train.
I had always heard that that was true and a couple of months ago I posted the same question *just* to be certain . I was told it did run.
I arrived during a FS train strike last March and the Airport Train *did* run. Regards, Walter
p.s. Just curious, what hotel are you staying at? I've stayed in 4 hotels within a couple of blocks of Termini.

Thanks Walter, I just booked a Limo just to be safe and the price is close to the cost of the train since there is 4 of us.
When we arrive in Rome we are at the Hotel Aphrodite for 1 night, then drive to Amalfi for a week stay and back to Rome for 3 nights at the Hotel Ariston.
We can hardly wait.We were there last May and started planning this trip on the flight home..

Yikes! We're planning on leaving Florence first thing on Sat.May 15th on a Eurostar train to Rome for a 1:30 flight out of FCO. Do the strikes usually end when they say they will, in this case at 9:00pm on May 14th?
