Ok, then without children the Hotel Tre Archi is a good suggestion within your price range. It is in a quiet residential part of Venice but near a vaporetto stop so easily accessible. I loved the neighbourhood (Cannaregio) feel and being able to eat in restaurants where locals ate, instead of only other tourists.You can get a room overlooking the canal but the rooms overlooking their garden are also pretty.
