I agree, they are beautiful and mean a lot to me. I can't imagine them getting home from the war without creases or damage of some sort. I'm not sure how to tell if they are originals or prints, they LOOK original to me, but I know next to nothing about how to determine that. They are framed with a complete paper covering on the back, sealed, so that I'd have to slit the paper to examine them further. Don't think that is a good idea for now.
Curiosity is a major motivator, so I'll keep searching. I really appreciate all the time you've taken to help me. As well as all the rest who are helping!

If they're dated 1944, they're almost certainly originals. They weren't doing much color reproduction in Italy in 1944 (except perhaps for propaganda material).

Here are some results from quick googling (in Italian): Rolando Giustiniani was a book and magazine illustrator, he died in 1969. Perhaps he did also some murals in the church of S. Vigilio in Nago-Torbole (Trentino) in 1920/21 - they were painted by "the Roman painter Giustiniani", according to a text that appears on Italian Wikipedia (http://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nago-Torbole) as well as on many other Italian websites on Nago-Torbole like e.g. this one: http://comuni.360gradi-trentino-alto.../nago-torbole/
