I have booked the Bradford Elysee for August and it is affiliated with the Best Western chain. I booked a room that sleeps 4 and the cost is $223.per night no breakfast. I've also booked a room for 4 at The Holiday Inn Republique $186 per night full breakfast included for the ealier part of my trip to Paris. We'll stay at both hotels in August, I've stuck to American chain hotels because I'm traveling with my children and needed children friendly hotels that's not too expensive but have the amenities I need when traveling with children.

Have fun traveling in Paris with your children, this is our second trip there in a year we're also going to London (Holiday Inn Mayfair, Rome (Hotel Canada-BW), Venice (Hotel Bisanzio-BW) and Geneva (Novotel Geneva).

Hi Alex,

I neglected to mention both hotels are considered 4 star hotels.

Well, for once I can put in a plug for Fodor's and know that it really is the right answer! Fodor's gives you an abbreviated selection of hotels by price category, together with a map showing location. Good luck!

I'd like to plug the Hotel Duc de St. Simon in the 7th arr. We stayed there eaerlier this month. It is around $200 U.S. and is really beautiful, small, full of charm and on a quiet street.

Alex - I recommend the Hotel de Fleurie on Gregoire de Tours in the 6th. Check out my rave under Fodor's hotel (F) for Paris. There are other raves and the hotel has a website - just search under its under. I did a ton of research. I knew what area I wanted and the amenities I needed. I was torn between the Fleurie and the Caron de Beaumarchais. I made the right choice because once I saw the Caron's neighborhood I realized this. The Fleurie met all my expectations and was in a super!!!! location. I lived in Paris for a while years ago so I knew the various area but my fiance had never been to Paris and he enjoyed the hotel and loved the location. For what this is worth I hope it helps. There are so many choices it is often confusing. Good luck and bon voyage.

We stayed at the Hotel De Lutece on the I'lle St. Louis (near Notre Dame) for 5 nights last year. Fantastic, classy little hotel; about $150/night. I cannot recommend it highly enough - we're planning to stay there again.

Alex,

September is fall fashion show season in Paris. Wherever you decide to stay, I would suggest making reservations pronto! The hotels in Paris fill up very fast and very completely during this time period.

john

We are also planning a trip to Paris in September - glad to know that we need to book hotel now due to some kind of fashion thing going on.

How do I book a room at the Champ de Mars? All I could find was something that was going to charge me $27 to book online? Is that the only place I can book a reservation for this hotel?

It looks absolutely charming, and we'll be celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary! We never had a honeymoon, so we're really looking forward to this!

Thanks for the help!

re last question, Hotel du Champs de Mars is not on a lot of hotel booking sites; you could always call or FAX directly, they even give an email address on their web site (URL http://www.adx.fr/hotel-du-champ-de-mars/index.html, URL www.hotel-du-champs-de-mars.com sometimes works). There is one web site www.renttoparis.com that will reserve there and claim there is no fee. I am not familiar with that web site.

Leesa: Hotel du Champ-de-Mars** website is:
www.hotel-du-champ-de-mars.com

You will find all necessary info there.
But book asap. Only some 30 rooms of which 22 doubles.
Good luck!

Whatever you do, STAY AWAY from Hotel Luxembourg, near the Luxembourg Gardens.

They will accept your guaranteed reservation and then cancel it while you are enroute. They switched us to another hotel -further away on a busy, noisy street - where the rooms were dark and rather drab, but clean. We had very little choice, arriving the final week of the French Open.

DO NOT TRUST these people...

Alex: It's true. September is a very busy month in Paris. It might be kind of difficult to find a good place to stay. You can also try with the Best Western chain. They have quite a few places in Paris. Usually smaller 3-star hotels. Some of them are on the Left Bank in St.Germain and Montparnasse area. You can check the availabilities with www.bestwestern.com
But then, do get in touch directly with the hotels by fax. You can also try the following site which has as a couple of very nice places:
www.esprit-de-france.com
I would recommend the Parc St-Séverin close to the Church St-Séverin. Doubles are FF 660.-/760.-/1100.-. With terrace overlooking Notre-Dame FF 1100.-/1600.-.
Good luck!

In a perfect world I'd suggest you find the arrondissement (district) that most appeals to you, and book a room there.I'd bet that if you a take a room in the center of Paris, near the main Metro line (# 1--La Defense-Vincennes) you could reach most attractions you wish to see using only the Metro (without transfers) and short walks. As for timing, I'd book yesterday. The smaller hotels with good reputations often fill many months in advance during peaks.
