Help with hotels
 

My wife and I are planning a 4 week trip to Ireland this May and June. We would like some suggestions re favorite hotels. We plan to travel south from Dublin to Waterford area and then follow the west coast north as far as Sligo. Our interest is mainly up-scale B&B's, contry hotels,and probably one stop for 2 or 3 nights in an upscale castle-type property. Any suggestions will be gratly appreciated. Thanks John

I have a couple of suggestions based on my own trip. Most of these are 4*Guesthouses<BR><BR>Killarney - Abbey Lodge www.abbey-lodge.com<BR>Dingle - Greenmount House www.greenmounthouse.com<BR>Kinsale - The Old Presbytary www.oldpres.com<BR><BR>My tour was mainly around the southwest, hopefully this helps.<BR>

<BR>I haven't stayed there yet - will be there in April, but we are staying at the Charthouse in Kinsale. <BR>Their website is www.charthouse-kinsale.com<BR>There are only 4 rooms and the look positively scrumptous. <BR>We are actually splurging (our budget appears to be much lower than yours) but I couldn't resist. <BR><BR>take a look.

I've only stayed in 3 hotels in Ireland. Both were well worth the cost, however, having said that I must say that I greatly prefer staying at B&amp;Bs or guesthouses. <BR><BR>Galway City - two different ones<BR> The best by far was Jury's; it has it's own car park , is within walking distance to the main Galway shopping area, is right on the river and had THE best power showers I've found in Ireland! Ever.<BR> The other was the Four Courts Hotel near Eyre Square. Also centrally located with parking around the cornor but the front facing rooms are right on the street which can potientally make for a noisy stay.<BR><BR>Lastly hotel was the FitzWiliiam in Dublin. this hotel was very nice inside although our view was of a hole in the ground out the backside of the hotel - am sure that it's gone by now though. The FitzWilliam is directly across from St Stephen's Green and so is within walking distance to Grafton Street. Also very nice showers. :-)<BR><BR>Try www.Irishotels.com - note only one 'H'

Whoops -- I forgot one! <BR><BR>If you want a really upscale hotel then stay at Glenlo Abbey just outside the Galway City on the main Galway - Clifden road. This is Galway's only five star hotel and it is worth every penny we spent for the one night we stayed.<BR><BR>http://www.glenlo.com/<BR><BR>Enjoy!

Hello John,<BR><BR>Generally I do not recommend accommodations or restaurants, but I there are four in Ireland that deserve consideration:<BR><BR>1. Greenmount House B&amp;B near Dingle.<BR>2. Dromoland Castle near Shannon<BR>3. Ashford Castle near Cong (lunch/dinner)<BR>4. Trinity Lodge B&amp;B in Dublin.<BR><BR>You may also want to consider venturing a bit North of Sligo - Fermanaugh and Donegal are well worth your time.<BR><BR>Have a great trip.
