I stayed at the Hotel Zum Ritter St. George a little over a year ago and quite liked it. I had a room at the very top, very nice, that looked out on the square and the Heiliggeistkirche (not sure of spelling---it means Holy Ghost Church). Nice staff, nice breakfast, and very central. The church bells do ring until fairly late (I can't remember how late exactly, but I was generally in bed by then), and on weekend evenings you may hear some noise from the square below (drunken Americans, in fact), but it's the trade off for being so close in town. If the opportunity arises do try and attend one of the concerts held in the evenings in the church.

The Marriott is (if I remember correctly) entirely outside of the old town. I don't know anything about the third option.

My next visit I'll be at the Weisser Bock, another older place in the city center. I've not yet seen it, but it's being booked for me by a local who knows my taste in hotels.

I have been to Heidelberg twice and can tell you that the Hollander Hof would be my first choice. It is quieter than the Zum Ritter and set in a beautiful location by the Alte Brick {Old Bridge over the Neckar River. I stayed at the Hollander and the staff was wonderful and room was quite large with the best pillows I ever slept on. The Zum Ritter is about 2 blocks away on the Hauptstrasse which is the Main Street. My Mom grew up in Heidelberg and if you go on the Unterstrasse {1 block down from the Hauptstrasse but parallel} find number 18 Unterstrasse a lovely building covered with ivy that was my grandma's building. Stefan's jewelry now occupies the first floorThe Unterstrasse is now like SOHO in NY. Have a great tiem Heidelberg is just beautiful. Be sure to take a boat ride on the Neckar.
