Help with Greece and Ephesus

My son is graduating from HS and on to Harvard! He is a classical greek scholar and we 4 are going to Greece the last 2 weeks in June to celebrate. We arrive in Athens on June 19 and depart July 2.
1. We are doing Athens, Delphi, Rhodes with a desire to also visit Ephesus in Turkey.
2. Is this a reasonable itinerary?
3. What is the best order of visit?
4. Is it easy to get to/from Ephesus from Rhodes?
Thanks to any one who can give us an opinion or advice. Susan

From Rhodes there is a ferry, although not every day, to Samos, and from Samos you can get to the Turkish mainland at Kusadasi and on to Ephesus. There are even daytrip excursions from Samos to Ephesus that include all transportation and tour guides. You'll be able to find them once you're on Samos.

Your other option would be to take a ferry from Rhodes into Turkey to Marmaris or Bodrum, and from there you can get to Ephesus by car or bus, or fly to Izmir and rent a car to drive to Ephesus. There is also a ferry from Samos back to Athens/Piraeus.

Whatever it takes, go. Ephesus is amazing.

If you plan to travel by ferry use www.gtp.gr to help you make your plans.

Susan, first congrads on the graduate. We visited this area last summer and it was great. However, we were on a cruise ship, so no thinking about going from place to place. Ephesus is a must(VERY hot), and the port of entry is the Turkish city of Kusadasi.
Enjoy

Susan, without knowing your faith I don't know if this is of interest or not, but here it is just in case.

When I visited Ephesus a few years ago, we also went to a little house nearby that was believed to be the home of the Virgin Mary in her later years. Of course, this cannot be proven with 100% certainty, but I was still happy to have seen it.

If you are not a Christian or if that does not interest you, oh well, at least I topped your thread for you. :-)

Congrats on your son's success.

Thanks so much to all of you. Just for clarification, would you do an overnight ferry to Rhodes or fly?

If I have a choice I'd fly, no question. I'd rather spend time on Rhodes than on a ferry at night when there's nothing to see in the dark.
