annhig, I'll be there at the very beginning of June. Our cruise departs on June 4th.

bluestar, thanks for the imdb link! I've seen quite a few of the movies on the list so I'm even more excited about staying there. However, Cranford is not one of them so I'll definitely have to watch that before I go.

Thanks again for all the advice!

suzski - therefore please head what I posted above - that is the week of the half-term holiday. expect a lot more traffic than you would like, especially around London and along the A303.

That week - I'd seriously double the time shown by the on-line mileage calculators . . . And even that might be inadequate.

The traffic around that area can be TERRIBLE!!!!! Leave way more time than you think just in case!!! We have been stuck for several hours on that stretch during half term!

At least June 4th is midweek, but it is half term. From June to September parts of the New Forest do turn into giant caravan parks, and the roads can be stupidly busy. Traffic Jams on the A303 (main road past Stonehenge)are very common - if I had a ship to catch, I might be very wary.

Are you positive this is half term? I know it varies from area to area but for most schools it will be w/c 26th May.

Morgana - it looks as if you are right!

mea culpa, suzski. it looks as if half-term is the week before. so the traffic may be bad but not, generally speaking, so appalling as the week before.

good luck!
