Help with Dublin Hotels

This is our first trip to Ireland and we will be going next week. Do you think it is better to stay @ the Clarence or the Westbury? I'm not sure which location is best. Also, is it better to be in Dublin during the week or on the weekend. I've read that it's very busy on the weekend but they have lots of markets and stuff going on which makes it more exciting. We also plan on driving up to the waterford castle for a few nights and then returning to Dublin by St. Stephens Green for a business convention. Thank you for your advice.

Location-wise I would choose the Westbury - it can't be beaten! Dublin is always busy but I would personally prefer weekends when it tends to be a bit more relaxed. If you're looking for nice markets - try Temple Bar on Saturday morning.

The locatin of the Westbury is grat. Walking distance to almost anything you want.

It's very traditional (some would say stodgy) but the rooms are large and service is fine.

While the Clarence is lovely the Westbury is in the swing of things but still quiet off Grafton street.

Other markets would be Cows Lane at the end of temple bar. Lots of funky scarves etc mostly made by former NCAD students and budding designers.

There is an Organic more hippyish market on Pearse street in St Andrews Resource centre. You can get hot food to eat as well. Try the Veggie Indian food. Temple bar market is probably the most lively and has lits to eat there or take away from Oysters to venison burgers to mexican.

It's about a 5 minute walk to Grafton street.
