Help with driving=Westport to Dingle

What is the driving distance and time from Westport to Dingle? Can this be accomplished in one day or is it a 2 day trip and where would be a good spot to overnight?

You can do it in a day if you're not interested in anything in between (Co. Clare, Galway, The Burren, etc.) or if you don't have the time. If you plan to stop over night, you might want to get further south than the places I just mentioned. Try mapquest.com or viamichelin.com to experiment with different routes.

FWIW (which may not be a lot!), we started from Westport around 9:00 in the AM, drove over to Knock where we spent and hour or two in and around the shrine. From there we went headed south, stopping for lunch in Kinvarra (probably at least an hour). And then made a couple of fairly brief stops in the Burren. We then went on to the Cliffs where we spent another hour or two. We spent that night in Ennis, arriving there around 6:30.

So my guess is that, as Cathinjoetown said, if you don't plan any stops along the way (other than for lunch), you should be able to make it from Westport to Dingle in a day.

I have no idea what your situation is. But if you have the time and are so inclined, I'd recommend making it a two day trip and making some stops along the way. Where you spend the night would probably depend on which areas you wish to see along the way. If you want to spend a lot of time in Connemara, you could consider stopping in or near Galway. If you're more interested in seeing the Burren and the Cliffs of Moher, somewhere in County Clare might be a better idea.

OMG, I thought I'd edited. Guess I missed the first couple of sentences!
