Help with calling rome
I'm having trouble calling a hotel in Rome. Is the country code 011? The telephone number listed is 0039 041 5210188.. I dialed 011 and then those numbers and I get a recording saying that the number is discontinued... what am I doing wrong?

thanks again

Patty

Patty,
the number you dial: 0039 041 5210188 is a phone number of Venice and it is Hotel Villa Accademia.
Hotels in Rome must have 06 instead of 041 and you must not dial 011: it is wrong.
So, for a phone number of Rome: 0039 06 and the number of the hotel.
Anyhow, the number you have, if it is on Rome, it is not a hotel but a private house.
Ciao.

Vincenzo:

Thanks so much for your reply, but I think I'm half sleeping... yes, I am trying to call Venice not Rome and I am calling from the U.S. So I don't use 011?

patty

Hi Patty,
Yes, you are correct. You need to drop the two zeros at the beginning of the number and replace with the 011.

Patti

You have to dial the 011 from the US for an international call, if you were in Italy you wouldn't need it or the country code.
From the US dial 011-39-then the number
