Help with Brittany itinerary and hotels

As part of my Normandy Brittany trip, my plan is after Mt. St. Michel to go to Cancale, St Malo, Dinard then on to the Pink Granite Coast and Trebeurden. From there I would like to stop at Guimiliau to see the parishes. Then south toward Douarnenez and on to Quimper, Concarneou, Pont Aven and Carnac for the menhirs. Finally on toward Rennes, Vitre and Fourgeres before returning to Paris. Ideally, I would like to stay at as few places as possible and do day trips. I would be interested in suggestions for stopping for 2 or 3 nights and doing day trips as well as any specific hotel recommendations. I have 7 or 8 nights. Also, is anyone familiar with Hotel Le Moulin de Vieux in Saint jacut de la Mer not far from St Malo?

Do you have my Normandy & Brittany itinerary? We've spent 3 weeks vacationing in Normandy & 5 in Brittany in the areas you're interested in. E-mail me at [email protected] & I'll attach a copy to the reply e-mail.

Try to see if you can work Vannes into your itinerary - it is one of our "top 5" medium sized cities in France (Rennes is in our "top 5" large cities list)

We used Quimper as a base to visit Concarneau and Pont Aven. Douarnenez could be added to that list. If you stay in Morlaix or near-by, you can visit the major calvaires on your way to Quimper.

You might be interested in my trip reports. One starts in Ghent and covers our travels through Normandy and western Brittany (but including Rennes); click on my name to find it.

The other one covers our travel to the Golfe de Morbihan, but is badly labeled, so here it is:

We did a two-base trip the year before last, staying in Dinan and Pont-Aven. Can't wait to go back.

Le vieux Moulin is my favourite hotel. Unless it has changed over the last 3 years. Although they do not speak English they are much loved by english visitors in particular. A bit too eccentric perhaps for the American taste. Excellent food and St Jacut is superb location with 11 beaches.

For the Pink Granite Coast, do consider the Hotel de Rochers in Ploumanach - a lovely place with a memorable restaurant. Try to walk the Pink Granite Coast just before sunset - WOW!
