It depends a bit on what you think of as "near".
Near as in just a short 1/2 drive or train ride, the most obvious place from a visitor's perspective might be Potsdam with its palaces and parks (Sanssouci being the most popular).

Worms is more than 600km southwest of Berlin - close to Heidelberg.
If you don't get a rental car, you can also reach it quite easily by train.

The romantic road is not a special road, but a strech of highways in Southern Germany which connects Würzburg with Füssen and passes through many towns that are considered to be "quintessentially" German. The road or the route itself is not necessarily always scenic or romantic.

From Berlin, you can easily (by train or car) reach these places:

- Potsdam. A great residential town with a castle (in fact, two castles) in a magnificent park. Also home of the Cecilienhof castle, where the Potsdam conference happened. Nice old town (Holländisches Viertel) with cozy bars and restaurants. UNESCO World Heritage. 0:24 by train.

- Schwerin. Gorgeous castle, built into the lake. 1:37 by train.

- Dresden. Grandiose baroque architecture - castle, opera, museum, church and an unbelievable collection of jewellery. 2:06 by train.

You have both given me some wonderful ideas.
How far is Warsaw Poland from Germany? I know its across the country but it's hard for me to
judge the distance on a map.natjgc

The fastest train is 5:49.

Maybe Wernigerode and Quedlinburg (UNESCO World Heritage) are options for you. These historical towns are as beautiful as those on the Romantic Road, but less touristy.

About 3 hours from Berlin.
