Help with Azores Itinerary
 

Hi everyone,
I will be traveling to the Azores June 2- 10. We are pretty energetic travelers and want to see "it all".
We are planning on visiting Sao Miguel, and Pico (with a day trip to Faial). My understanding is that it would be best to finish in Sao Miguel in case there are any issues with a flight coming back to the island.

We land at 645 and 635 AM (i am coming from JFK, my friend from Toronto). There is a flight (with a connection ) at 9:10, and a direct flight at 1 PM. my question is is the 9:10 AM flight too early? would we make it? and if it is too tight- any suggestions on what to do with a 6 hour layover? another option is to get a rental car and stay overnight in Sao Miguel, go to Pico for 3 days and come back. We just want to maximize our time and any advise is much appreciated :)
