Help with air/train logistics in U.K.!

We are trying to get from Florence/Pisa (Italy) to Windemere train station in the Lake District, U.K.
We need to be in Coniston Water (a short distance from Windemere) on Friday, May 27,2016 before 7:30PM.

We are having difficulty finding out how to get to the train station from Manchester Airport,
Leeds-Bradford Airport or Liverpool Airport. Flights from Florence/Pisa seem to favor Leeds-Bradford.

Is there a site that can explain the options with time tables?

Thank you for your suggestions.

There would be a number of changes en route, whichever airport you come in to.

Jet2 fly PSA-MAN, Ryanair fly PSA-Liverpool.

Manchester Airport - Windermere could be direct train, but most would require a change at Oxenholme, possibly Manchester Piccadilly.

Liverpool-Windermere would require several changes of bus / train

Timetables - and cheaper tickets will be available a MAXIMUM of 12 weeks before date of travel.

Booking a Transpennine Express train gives a bit of flexibility on the cheapest train tickets as they allow for flight delays

Do you not plan on having a car once you get to Coniston Water? If so, fly into either Liverpool or Manchester or Leeds-Bradford, hire a car and drive.

Getting out of Leeds airport basically needs a taxi across town (and it is a very busy town) to the station or a local urban station. I'd aim for Manchester or Liverpool. Manchester has the best train links while Liverpool is a bit out on a wing.

So fly into MAN

rome2rio can show you some the options, they propose Pisa airport.

Once you got to Windermere station it is still more than half an hour by car and much more by bus to Coniston Water. They are near 'as the crow flies' but one has to work around the north end of Windermere and then down to wherever you need to get on Coniston Water (and if it happens to be towards the southern end of the lake it would take nearly an hour)

It's also the start of half term and holiday weekend in UK (Monday 30th is a bank holiday) so expect higher than usual traffic on the roads, especially on M6 and in the Lakes.

Definitely fly into Manchester, it offers the most direct route into the Lakes. However, you will have to change trains at Oxenholme into Windermere, then bus from there to Coniston. There are several routes though, the "worst" in terms of changes (3) being via Wigan. Look for the one change option as above.

If you're only coming from Pisa into Manchester, jet lag won't be a problem, so I'd hire a car at MAN and drive up. M56 South, M6 North.

Just checked and jet2 are offering your date now. The flight gets in at 14:40, so by the time you get your baggage it should be around 15:30. Hire the car and you should be up in the Lakes before 18:30, allowing for busy traffic.
