Help with Accomodations in SW Ireland
 

We're flying into Shannon Sept 7 and have 9 days to see the SW/W of Ireland. We like to mix up our types of accomodations-some up market, others small but with atmosphere.Please comment on the places we are considering.
First nt (possibly 2)Lahinch - Moy House
TourCliffs and Burren; if stay 2nts we'll do day tour of Aran Is.
2nd and/or 3rd nt. Dingle; Will Doyle's be too noisy? other ideas: Gorman's Cliff Top or Emlagh House.
4th and 5th nt. Sheen Falls Lodge, Kenemare
6th nt Sea View House in Ballylickey
7-8 Kinsale Need suggestions
9 need suggestion. Our flight leaves from Shannon at 1:00
Questions: Has anyone stayed at any of these places? Would love your comments and suggestion on my itinary and accomodations Thanks

Try Kierran's in Kinsale, its over a pub. you will have to walk up a few flights of stairs to your room though, search for "Shrimps Bistro"

In Dingle town try Greenmount house~a great location with great views and reviews. IN Kinsale I stayed at The Lighthouse, a very nice place in town. Do a search on Kinsale to find some other great places.
IN Kenmare Sheen Falls Lodge is fantastic, and I love the town.

I've seen the posts on Greenmount, they have been positive. But, it seems so new and bland. Am I getting the wrong impression? I really want a place with atmosphere; however, I'm afraid Doyle's might be noisy. What would you reccomend for Dingle?

We are returning for a second visit in October to The Lighthouse Bed & Breakfast in Dingle, www.lighthousedingle.com because we loved this B&B. The hostess, Mary Murphy is an absolute doll and so helpful. Her home is a new, purpose built B&B, so everything is nice. She also has a very comfortable room on the main floor for guests to sit and chat, browse through literature on the area, or just rest their weary feet. The breakfast room has beautiful views of the harbor. You would not be disappointed if you stayed here!!

I don't think you'd find Doyle's to be too noisy. It's centrally located in Dingle Town, but just enough off the beaten path that you don't have the amount of foot traffic you'd have just a block away.

Has anyone stayed at Innishannon? I believe it is right outside of Kinsale.

We stayed at the Greenmount in July and I can't rave enought about it. It was luxurious, not bland. And the breakfasts were unblievable. They were gourmet feasts. Have the oatmeal with Irish Mist. Believe me, when you see the buffet and then the personal menu items in addition to the buffet, you will think you have died and gone to heaven.

In Kinsale, we stayed at The Presbytery and had the penthouse suite. We didn't want to leave. We had two floors with a spiral staircase, kitchen and two bathrooms, one with a seven foot bathtub. And the breakfast was really good, too. But anything would pale in comparison to the Greenmount's.

I recommend both B&B's heartily. But you need more than one night at both. Maria

I would recommend Heaton's Guesthouse in Dingle, Perryville or Blindgate House in Kinsale and Sallyport House in Kenmare.

Thanks for the suggestions for Dingle and Kinsale. I'm striking out on Kinsale. The Old Presbytery was booked and haven't gotten a response from Old Bank or Blue Haven or Desmond House. Has anyone stayed at Innishannon? It seems to be right outside of Kinsale.

I liked the Charthouse in Kinsale - it was a bit more for us, but worth it (we were there in April, and it was 65pps)

The owner knows the region so well, that she was able to give us pinpoint directions for our drive out of town towards Killarney. Even drew a perfect map.

For your last night in Ireland, here are a couple of suggestions if your budget will allow: Adare Manor in Adare www.adaremanor.com or a Hidden Ireland property www.hidden-ireland.com
I'm not familiar with any of the properties you mentioned. Just FYI, the accommodations around Shannon all seemed to be airport hotels, nothing special in that immediate area to the best of my knowledge.

We are going to Ireland in October, and we have selected Landfall House, www.landfallhouse.com for our stay in Kinsale. I have never stayed there before, but it came highly recommended by a friend. Has anyone else every stayed there?
