Help with 2 weeks in Spain

Need help planning trip. In/out of Barcelona. Got 2 weeks and want to hit Barcelona (4 days or so) and then head south either by car or train. Don't want to spread it out thin, rather get to see a few areas....Beach and countryside. Is Granada and Malaga too far? Is Valencia worth visiting. We're with 2 young teens, into some museums, hiking, eating, beach.
Thanks for any advice.

What time of year are you going? If in summer the south of Spain can be hellishly hot - average of 100 and possible highs of 120. Go only if you have a hotel with good AC and a great pool and realize some things close after lunch due to the heat.

Valencia is DEFINITELY worth visiting and I think young teens would enjoy it. With two weeks perhaps you can stick to Barcelona, Valencia, and points between. Some city time, and small town and country side time in between...

Andalucia is not too far with the high speed AVE train. You could go to Madrid from Barcelona, and then on to Cordoba, Sevilla or Malaga in no time, city center to city center.

The average high temperatures in Malaga - in the south of Andalucia - in the warmest months (July and August) is 86-88F. http://www.wetteronline.de/klima-temperatur/malaga

Malaga is on the coast and therefore cooler. Inland Andalusia is much hotter - so if anyone wants to see Seville, Granada, cordoba or the white villages they need to take heat into account.

That's very helpful. We are going for the last 2 weeks in June.
