HELP! Where to stay in London !
As mentioned on my other posts I'm planning our honeymoon!
Can anyone help me with accomodation in London. It doesn't have to be 5 star but decent & clean, max $250 per night. Also, it would be helpful if it’s close to public transit.
Thank you all

I don't know your exact dates so I just used Aug 14-17 on Londontown and got lots of good options.
The Cavendish, Copthorne Tara, Grange Fitzrovia, a couple of Club Quarters, Thistle Holborn, Thistle Trafalgar Square -- are all nice and in excellent locations - and all are well w/i your budget.
But again - your specific dates could make a difference.

You say it doesn't have to be 5 * (which in London is about $800 per night and up) but for your price you will be getting more like a 3* - which can be perfectly pleasant - but may not be what you are expecting. I urge you to pick carefully - since London hotel rooms are notoriously small and many hotels may not have amenities you expect. (You may be better off getting a upgraded room in a simpler hotel than the smallest room in a more upscale one.)
I have seen ads for trivago.com - which seems to have decent prices. But - I have not used it yet - am just starting to look at some hotels in Paris for the fall.
For London you might want to consider Priceline - as long as you choose carefully.

I often use priceline for London, but don't think I'd use it for a honeymoon.
Each of the hotels I posted from Londontown are very nice 4 star-ish hotels. And some of them came in close to £100 and as high as £145 for the dates I used. You have a generous enough budget w/o needing to use priceline.
But you should book sooner rather than later . . .

Thank you all for your responses.
Janisj- I've been looking at the ones you listed above Which area is nicer to stay at, but I can't decide on the area. South Kensington, Chelsea, Bayswater, Bloomsbury,... and the list goes on! Too difficult to pick one

Not most parts of Chelsea - a VERY nice area but except for around Sloane Sq, there is essentially no tube service. But Belgravia (next door to Chelsea) would be OK since it is right next to Victoria Station where trains from LGW arrive.
Definitely NO to Bayswater! Wrong area to see anything.
South Kensington is a lot of folks go-to neighborhood. I stay there often. Good connections to LHR. But for what is essentially only a few hours in London - I'd stay more in the middle of things.
Bloomsbury - great IF you want to go to the British Museum or Covent Garden. and good connection to LHR. But if you aren't going to the museum, I'd stay even more central.
The thing is - IMO - those areas are all fine IF you have several days and will be exploring many different areas - it makes less difference where exactly you stay. But for a very quick over night - I'd try to stay as absolutely central as possible. Trafalgar Square, Covent Garden. Maybe even Piccadilly Circus/Soho (I wouldn't normally recommend that specific area)

We love Apex hotels. We had a great time at the Apex at Tower Bridge, and really found that the area was good for transportation and that there was a lot to see nearby.
Our next Apex was Temple Court, more central, very quiet and hugely atmospheric and if I may say so, quite romantic. We feel that Apex gives a huge amount of bang for the back, with space, amenitites and service. Oh, and design too.

We'll have Thursday to Sunday in London but would prefer a central location close o most things. Has anyone stayed at Grange Fitzrovia hotel near Regent's Park station? How about The Regency Hotel in South Kensington?

Oops - I mixed you up w/ another poster w/ a concurrent thread - they only have one evening in London.
You could stay basically anywhere. But no location is >>close o most things<<. London is vast and you will be traveling quite some distance to many of the major sites - no matter where you stay.
The Grange is actually nearer to Great Portland Street station n=but is also fairly close to Regents Park station. Not the most central location but certainly OK.
The Regency is about equidistant to Gloucester Rd and South Kensington stations. MUCH more convenient than the Grange is to LHR.

I recently used hotwire.com and I got the club quarters at Trafalgar for about $170 per night. I have also got the Kensington Tara for about $100 but the club quarters is a lot nicer property
You can use betterbidding.com to work out which hotel is being listed
I also use Priceline which I find about 10 - 20% cheaper than hotwire but a bit more fiddly. You can use biddingfortravel.com to work out the likely hotels you will get in the area you are bidding
