help: Where in Europe should I go?
Hi there. I’m in a big dilemma here and can really use your advice. I will have an opportunity to spend 2-3 days in pretty much any European city on my way to my next destination. I can’t quite figure out where I should go. I am not at all looking to do any sightseeing so museums and famous landmarks are out of the equation. My plan is to stay at a hostel, hopefully meet some nice people, go out and enjoy the nightlife. I’m 26, thankfully still have all my hair, so I want to have fun while I can.
The main criterias are friendly and welcoming people and a good nightlife atmosphere.
From what I hear (but not based on much) Amsterdam, London and Berlin might be a good choices but I would really like the opinion of others.
Really appreciate your help,
Daniel

I swear chambesr's last post wasn't there when I posted - so OK - forget the male companionship idea
But chambesr - what do you plan on doing during the day?? Sleep off all the nightlife, maybe?? You truly don't want to see anything in whichever city you choose????

I can’t say I don’t want to see anything, but since this is a sort of a very short vacation for me I really am looking forward to just going out and having fun. I guess that during the day I’ll walk around and enjoy being in a foreign city which is always very thrilling to me.

For the nitty-gritty of planning such a trip and itineraries and train info i always refer folks to two great sources: www.ricksteves.com and www.budgeteuropetravel.com - on the latter request the free European Planning & Rail Guide as it's a fine primer on doing a rail trip, with rail maps and itinerary suggestions for each country. For a comprehensive look at passes: www.raileurope.com. And www.railsaver.com can help you determine whether a railpass is good or not for you ultimate itinerary. Too bad you're 26 as the cheap Youth railpasses are for those under 26 only.

Hi chambesr, i was very amused with your comment, "I’m 26, thankfully still have all my hair, so I want to have fun while I can." Enjoy your trip knowing that the fun won't fall away when the hair does. Hard to realize it now, but it only gets better.

Yes Amsterdam, damned, damned, damned! Not only one of the world's most exquisitely gorgeous cities but for young persons so exciting - the reason many folks your age flock here from all over Europe.
Oh to be 26 again and in Amsterdam!

As much as I love Paris, I really don't think it is the best city for this purpose (just going out for nightlife and having fun).
I'd say Prague, which I love, or Krakow would be great. Amsterdam and London and Berlin are good ideas, also.
