If you could guess how the weather would be in the UK you could be a wealthy person...We have frozen and fried in Scotland and England. We have been there many times, always in June, except once in September. I would say, on the whole, the weather has been very, very good, but you just cannot plan on that. Go prepared for anything, golf shirts, windbreaker, little heavier jacket, v-neck sweater, etc. We have rarely needed much more than a windbreaker, sweater and golf shirt...maybe you'll be lucky too.

Yes you will need shortsleeve golf shirts and shorts, plus heavy jackets, long trousers, and full rain gear - and thats all in one day !!

We have attended two Opens. Both times (at Troon and at Lytham-St.Anns) the day before the Open was gorgeous--shirtsleeve weather. Both time, the Opening Day was rainy, blustery, etc. Fortunately, both times, we stayed in Bed & Breakfast homes close enough to walk to the venue. But take a rain suit, umbrella (which is helpful to have behind you if you sit in the stands, as it can break the wind), and what ever else you think you might need to keep dry. If you need it, you won't have an easy time of buying it--unless you want to purchase rain gear as a souvenier. If you don't need it, be thankful. What ever--it will be worth going.
