Help!!! We need a Positano Hotel for Honeymoon!!!
 

My fiance and I are are planning our early April honeymoon! We really liked the Villa Franca however, it is not available in early April. Can anyone please suggest a comprable hotel in the Positano area that will be open for the season by April 1st?

San Pietro, without a doubt. honeymooned there 20 years ago early April and returned 2 years ago to the same elegant, private, romantic setting. it's a no-miss.

Jennifer: Unless you have tons of cash or get tons of cash from your guests, the San Pietro is extremely expensive - $600 Canadian a night. My husband and I stayed at the most wonderful place in Positano - The Poseidon. The rooms were not glamarous but very large with a rustic flavour. The views from the balconies were amazing, the pool area was great, the food was terrific and the service impecable. We are use to 4 or 5 star places and I would return here in a second. Nothing more romantic than walking down into town (2 mins) having a wonderful meal and then sipping lemoncello on the balcony at night hearing the Italian music fill the air. A wonderful spot - no negatives at at.. You have breakfast overlooking the hills and the town. Check them out, I am sure you will love it. Julie

Second vote for the Poseidon. Everything Julie said is true!!<BR><BR>Was there last week--along with several couples on their honeymoon. A nice hotel in a beautiful setting and the staff was wonderful

I just booked the Poseidon for the start of my honeymoon in June. Their rates were better than the other premier hotels and fodorites give it great reviews.<BR>Please post your findings upon your return. Have a great honeymoon!

Unfortunately, the Poseidon is not open April 1st. I just tried booking it and they said it reopened on April 13th. I have stayed at Villa Franca and loved it. People cancel reservations all the time so it would be worth to try again and again...unless it's closed like the Poseidon. I do know the Sireneuse is open all year...can't go wrong here but of course more expensive. Buca de Baco and Palazzo Murat are also highly recommended but they don't have a pool. In April you might not swim anyway. Have fun!

Thank you all for your replys!! The Poseidon sounded wonderful too!! I have looked at Palazzo Murat. It looks BEAUTIFUL! My only concern is the new portion and the old portion. Do you know if the new portion is reflected on their web page. There seems to be a pretty significant price difference. We will want to stay around $200-$250 US dollars per night. Also, do you know the difference between the Standard and the Superior rooms (ie Does one have a better view?).<BR>I've also looked at the Buca de Baco but have not been able to find a web site.<BR>Also Casa Teresa looks very nice. Hi Jennifer,<BR><BR>My husband and I spent our honeymoon last September in Positano at the Miramare. It was absolutely fabulous and has in my opinion, the best views in town. It is just below the Poseidon but looks out more over the sea as well. The service was incredible, the hotel had just been thoroughly renovated and was immaculate, and breakfast served on your private terrace overlooking the sea and the town was amazing! Hopefully it is open then.<BR><BR>

Jennifer, Concerning Casa Teresa:<BR>First I would decide if I wanted the amentiies of a 1st class hotel and if you do the Casa Teresa is not for you.<BR>It's a small B&B (6 rooms) extremely well done for a small B&B, but still its what it is. Their rates are $100 night. Positana itself is romantic, but Casa Teresa is not elegant just nice!<BR>Congrat"s on your marriage.

Jennifer,<BR><BR>One additional suggestion is the Miramare. We stayed there last year for our honeymoon and it was absolutely amazing - and the price was just in the range you mentioned. It has some of the best views in Positano. Breakfast is delivered directly to your room on your balcony. Also, the room we had - had floor to ceiling windows in the bathroom overlooking the ocean. I forget the room number but ask when you call - it is one of the most popular rooms. Enjoy and have a wonderful wedding!<BR>-Linda

Try the Hotel Eden Roc. I don't know if it's "open" in early April. But we had a great rm.(rm 318 and right next to it was the honeymoon suite), Amazing view, HUGE balcony...in August we paid $300 a night.

Thank you all for your replys!! Unfortunately so many of the hotels are not available during the time that we will be there. We are now looking at Villa Rosa. Has anyone stayed there? I've done a seach on Fodors and it looks like there are some pretty good reviews. If you have any suggestions please let me know. Also, any suggestions on restaurants and/or must see/do things would be great.<BR>Thanks!!!

I just came back from Positano. Villa Rosa is definitely good for your money and has the a large terrace with breakfast served on it, and costs efficiently, I mean the service and the view you will be enjoying. <BR><BR>If you want a hotel with more hotel faciities, that you should expect to pay more. For example, You may try Hotel Ancora and Hotel Marincanto. Both hotels situate on the opposite street from Villa Rosa, so these hotels share the more or less the view of of Villa Rosa, but they have parking, and even a jacuzzi on their terrace. Depending on your budget and time of your visit, jazzuci is a nice thing to have if you are going to stay a bit more time in hotel and like relaxing, then having a jazzuci on the terrace is a wonderful way to enjoy the view. Visit their hotel websites. For the former, you could take Monteperuso bus and it is at the last bus stop. It's a warm and romantic restaurant with very nice food.
